Bring your data from another system
Importing products, customers, suppliers, opening balances and opening stock from Excel or CSV, checking the column guess and the dry run, and undoing an import within 30 days.
Bring your data moves a shop from another program, or from its own spreadsheet, into CreekPOS Online in one go. It is in every online plan (from Retail) and for the owner and managers only.
The steps
- Open Settings → Bring your data (also offered on Products → Import and in the setup checklist).
- Pick what the file holds, or let CreekPOS tell, and choose the file. No file yet? Download the empty template for products, customers, suppliers or stock in your language and fill it.
- Check the guess. Each column shows what CreekPOS thinks it is and why (a known layout, its heading, what it holds). Change any of them, or the sheet, the heading row or the kind.
- Choose what happens to rows you already have: keep, update prices and stock, or update everything; and the date of the opening balances and stock.
- Read the findings and the dry run: "will add 1,240 products, update 85, skip 12; 310 customers with 18,450.00 owed in total". Download the findings as CSV if there are many.
- Press Import and follow the progress bar.
What it reads
Excel (.xlsx), CSV, TSV and TXT files, whatever the column order, with headings in English, Arabic, Hindi or Urdu, Arabic-Indic digits and prices written "1,250.50" or "AED 12". The exports of several common systems are recognised as they are; a layout we could not confirm is marked unconfirmed layout — check the preview.
Opening balances go on the customer and supplier accounts as "Opening balance (imported …)"; opening stock as "opening" stock movements. Sales history is not imported.
Limits
20 MB a file, 50,000 rows, 200 columns, 40 sheets. Old .xls and .ods files: save them as .xlsx or CSV first. A negative customer balance (you owe the customer) is listed in the findings, not posted.
Undo
Each import is one batch. Within 30 days, open it and press Undo this import. Records used since (a product sold, a balance paid) are kept and listed.
