Sell by weight and volume

Templates for roasteries, spice shops, sweets, butchers and perfume shops; units such as the gram, ml and tola; selling by weight, by money or by pieces; tare; scale labels; custom blends; roast and pack batches.

Sell by weight and volume is in CreekPOS Online from the Retail plan. This chapter describes CreekPOS Online.

Switching on

Open Settings → Weight and volume, pick the template (Roastery, Spice shop, Sweets, Butcher or Perfume / oud / attar) and press Apply the template, or switch on Sell by weight and volume in Settings → Features. A new shop that picks one of these types in the setup wizard starts with it on.

Then give weighed products a unit (kg, g, 100 g, ml, l, tola, lb…) and tick sold by weight. The tola is 11.66 g; the perfume template adds a 12 ml tola you can edit.

At the till

Tap a weighed product and enter the weight, read it from the scale, enter money ("20 AED": the till works out the weight to the gram and charges exactly 20.00) or pieces of an item priced by the kilo. Pick a container and its weight comes off (tare); the receipt prints "gross 0.300 − tare 0.050 kg".

Scale labels

Labels printed by a label-printing scale are read at the scan: tick the scale's layout (price or weight, prefixes 20–29) and its prefix in the settings, and give each product its short code (PLU) in the barcode field. Bags you pack yourself get weighed labels from Inventory → Weighed labels: net weight, price per kg, total, packed and best-before dates, and a barcode the till reads back.

Custom blends

Press Blend, add the parts (3 ml Oud A, 2 ml Musk B, 5 ml carrier, or 60 % / 40 % for coffee), pick a container and press Price it. Each part's stock goes down by what went in; the fee and the bottle are added. Save the formula for the customer ("Ahmed's mix") and sell it again at any size. With the perfume template the receipt shows the blend's name, not its recipe.

Roast and pack batches

Inventory → Roast, grind and pack: record what went in and what came out (10 kg green in, 8.4 kg roasted out). The loss is recorded and the cost per kilo carried to the result. Packing turns a sack into bags. Shrinkage and evaporation are write-off reasons of their own; Reports → Stock by weight shows kilos and litres with their value.
