A day at a roastery

With sell by weight and volume switched on and the Roastery template.

  1. 07:30

Roast: 10 kg of green Colombian in, 8.4 kg roasted out. The 16 % loss is recorded and the cost per kilo carried to the roasted beans.

  2. 08:15

Pack: 20 bags of 250 g with your own labels — net weight, price per kg, total, packed and best-before dates, and a barcode.

  3. 11:00

A customer asks for 20 dirhams of Colombian at 48.00 a kilo: the till weighs out 0.417 kg and charges exactly 20.00.

  4. 13:30

A packed bag is scanned: 0.250 kg, 12.00, read straight from its label.

  5. 17:00

The house espresso, 60 % Colombian and 40 % Ethiopian, is sold at 500 g; each origin's stock goes down by its share.

  6. Month end

Stock by weight shows the kilos and their value; shrinkage from drying is a write-off reason of its own.

Roastery and spice shop questions

Can I sell “20 dirhams' worth”?

Yes. Type the amount: the till works out the weight, to the gram, and charges exactly that amount.

Does it read my scale's labels?

Yes: standard label-printing scales with configurable barcode layouts (price or weight, prefixes 20–29).

Can I record the roasting loss?

Yes. A roast batch records what went in and what came out, the loss, and carries the cost to the roasted beans.
