Ask ChatGPT or Claude about your shop, with a read-only key you control

Many owners already ask ChatGPT or Claude for help every day. Connect your AI lets that same assistant read your shop's sales, stock and receipts through a key you make, limit and revoke, and it can never sell, refund or change anything.

Ask ChatGPT or Claude about your shop, with a read-only key you control

It is 11 at night and you want to know how today compared with last Thursday, or whether the rice you ordered has arrived. The answer is in your reports, but that means opening the app, finding the right page and setting two dates. Meanwhile the AI app on your phone, ChatGPT or Claude, is one tap away and answers in plain words.

Connect your AI joins the two. Your own assistant reads your CreekPOS shop through a key you make, and answers from your shop's exact figures.

What you can ask

Your AI asks CreekPOS for the figures and answers from them. For example:

  • "How were sales today against last Tuesday?"
  • "What were my ten best sellers this month, and how much did they bring in?"
  • "What is running low, and what expires in the next two weeks?"
  • "What was on receipt 1043?"
  • "Who is clocked in right now?" (when staff attendance is on)
  • "What bookings do we have today?" (when Bookings is on)

Sales come by day, hour, cashier, branch or product, and two periods can be compared. The AI can also read CreekPOS's own help, so it can explain a screen or an error message.

Read-only, by design

There are 19 tools behind the connection, and every one of them only reads. None sells, voids, refunds, takes a payment, changes stock or a setting, or deletes anything. Product names and notes reach the AI as data, never as instructions. A key sees only its own shop, and only one branch if you chose one.

Your key, your rules

The owner switches it on in Settings → AI access and makes a key for each AI:

  1. Give the key a name you will recognise, such as "My ChatGPT" or "Accountant's Claude".
  2. Tick what it may read. Reports, stock, products and receipts start ticked. Customers, bookings and team start unticked, because they are personal data.
  3. Optionally limit it to one branch and give it a last day.
  4. Copy the key. It is shown once; CreekPOS keeps only a fingerprint of it.

You can revoke a key instantly, or pause and resume it. A key is never widened: a new purpose gets a new key, so each key's record stays clear.

Four ways to connect

The AI access page shows four cards, already filled in with your shop's address and the key you just made. In short:

  • Claude desktop app (Windows and Mac): install Node.js (the LTS version) once, open Settings → Developer → Edit Config in Claude, paste the block from the card, save and restart Claude.
  • Claude on the web and phone (a paid Claude plan): Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste your shop's connector address from the card and leave the OAuth fields empty; switch the connector on from the tools menu in a chat.
  • ChatGPT (a paid plan, with developer mode): Settings → Connectors → Advanced, switch on Developer mode, create a connector with your shop's address and No authentication, then pick it from the tools menu in a chat.
  • Any other MCP client: the server is https://api.creekpos.com/mcp, with the header Authorization: Bearer followed by your key.

These steps are the menus as each AI's maker documents them; AI apps move their menus from time to time, and if a step has moved, the app's own help names the new place. An address with the key in it is the key itself: never paste it anywhere public.

Limits that protect you

  • Each key can make 60 calls a minute and 2,000 a day.
  • Lists stop at 50 rows: ask a narrower question for more.
  • If a key asks 20 times in an hour for something its ticks do not allow, it is paused and you are alerted. That is what you want if, say, a web page tried to trick the AI into asking for your customers.
  • What the AI did on the same page lists the last 50 calls: when, which key, which tool, how many rows, answered or refused. The questions themselves are not stored.

How this differs from Ask your shop

CreekPOS also has Ask your shop, built into the app and your shop's Telegram bot. It is not AI: it answers a fixed set of questions, such as "sales today" or "who owes me", with fixed rules and exact figures. Connect your AI is for when you want to ask in your own words, in the AI you already use.

Honest limits

  • CreekPOS does not supply the AI. You use your own ChatGPT, Claude or other assistant, on its maker's terms and price. CreekPOS charges nothing per question.
  • Your AI answers from CreekPOS's exact figures, but its wording is its own. Before a decision that depends on a number, check the report.
  • It cannot write. If you want something changed, you change it in CreekPOS.
